At this point we emphasize the importance of correctly maintaining the connecting systems regarding the protection from virii, worms and the unauthorized access of third persons. Please consider our hints and installation assistance under “Security”!

This configuration should work for all Mac OS X Versions which support the Cisco IPSec Implementation. If your Version does not yet support this, please download the Mac OS X Cisco VPN Client for connection to our VPN (you have to use the profile, similar to the windows VPN Configuration.).

Open the network dialog in the system configuration editor. Click on the plus icon under the interface list to add a new virtual adapter.
Select VPN as Interface, Cisco IPSec as VPN Type and name the Service as you see fit. Click on Create after you have finished.
Now select your new adapter and enter 131.220.148.200 as the Server Address. Fill in your username including the domain bit.uni-bonn.de. Then click on Authentication Settings.
Enter the shared secret and the group name exactly as you see the on the registration page after you submitted your username and password. Everything is case-sensitive here, so be careful not to change everything during input. Finish with OK, Apply the changes and click on connect. You will be prompted for your password, after which you will get a requester to accept our network VPN Policy.
