Information VPN

Attention!

All WLAN Options at b-it require the registration of your b-it account for PNAS@BIT prior to connection configuration of your mobile system at the following address:

Register for PNAS@BIT

VPN (Virtual Private Network) makes it possible to integrate a computer into the B-IT network through a secured connection, regardless of location and internet-provider. This offers you the possibility to securely transfer data and use services, which are only available to computers inside the B-IT network. Furthermore you can use VPN as an alternative to 802.1X authentication, so you can get secure access to the B-IT network through an unencrypted WLAN connection. In order to do that, connect your computer to one of our open hotspots with the ESSID “VPN/WEB”, get an IP-address through our DHCP-server and after that start the VPN-client as describes in Howto: Cisco VPN Client.

For all other users, who want to use the b-it VPN with non official implementations of the cisco VPN software (i.e vpnc or Mac OS X, IOS>V2 etc.), we refer to the VPN profile you can download during the registration process, which is just a plain text file. You can open it in a text editor (i.e. Notepad etc.). There you will find all necessary parameters.

For the unencrypted group password, please use the password which is shown you during the registration process. If you ever lose this data, please just register again, you will be able to download your original data. This will not effect your current registration in any way.
