Access the B-IT-Network through 802.1X (Mac OS X)

Attention: we use a self-signed certificate during initial PEAP Authentication. Please make sure you check the certificate fingerprints to ensure your credential's safety:

At this point we emphasize the importance of correctly maintaining the connecting systems regarding the protection from virii, worms and the unauthorized access of third persons. Please consider our hints and installation assistance under “Security”!

Additionally we hereby inform you that the usage of 802.1X for Intel-based macs is partially limited due to bugs in older implementations MacOS X. You will not be able to connect to the WLAN via 802.1X with your MacBook/MacBook Pro unless you run the most recent version of your OS. Please use the System Updater to keep your system recent before visiting us for aid.

Here is the procedure for Mac OS 10.4.*:

1_jpg.jpg Open “Internet-Connect” in the “Applications” folder.
2_jpg.jpg Click “File” → “New 802.1X-Connection”
3_jpg.jpg Click “802.1X” and choose “Airport” as “Network Port”.
Enter your PNAS@BIT username and password.
IMPORTANT: You have to enter “802.1X” as “Wireless Network”.
After that click on “Connect”
4_jpg.jpg During the verify of the certificate click on “Continue”. If you want to save the certificate in your “Key-Chain”, click on “Show Certificate” and mark “accept permanently” in the following window.
